Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban Yomigaeru Gyakuten (Japanese: 逆転裁判 蘇る逆転, "Turnabout Trial: Revived Turnabout"), is the first game in the Ace Attorney series. It was originally released in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban (逆転裁判, lit. "Turnabout Trial") on the Game Boy Advance. In 2005, the series saw a revival with the game being re-released on the Nintendo DS in Japan and translated for the first time for other languages. Additionally, there was an extra fifth case added that was not present in the original GBA release, which made use of the Nintendo DS' microphone and touch screen functions.

[edit] Release Information

[edit] Ports

A Microsoft Windows version was released only in Japan, entitled Gyakuten Saiban PC, effectively a port of the Game Boy Advance version.

Additionally, the game was made available for download on the Nintendo Wii's WiiWare service in 2009 (2010 for North America and Europe) for the first four episodes, and in 2010 for the fifth episode.

In 2009 (2010 for North America,) the game was ported to iOS with an updated graphic interface. A trilogy compilation of the first three games, called Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD, was available as well. It was released on the App Store on February 7, 2012 in Japan and on May 30, 2013 in the U.S.

Lastly, a similar bundle to the Trilogy HD was added for the Nintendo 3DS in 2014, called Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, which gave players the option to play all the games in either Japanese or English. It was released on the Nintendo eShop on April 16 and in stores the following day in Japan. The trilogy was available exclusively as a digital download in the west, and was released on December 9 in North America, and on December 11 in Europe.

[edit] Limited Edition

In Japan, the Nintendo DS version received a limited edition that included a copy of the game, a bonus sound disc, a stylus with a pointing finger, a Gyakuten Saiban branded phone strap, an "Igiari!" (Japanese for "Objection!") keychain and a manga volume following the adventures of the game's cast. It was only available to customers who pre-ordered early.
