Ace Attorney, known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban (逆転裁判, lit. "Turnabout Trial"), is a series of visual novel legal thriller adventure games developed and published by Capcom. Created by Shu Takumi, the first three games in the series were originally released only in Japan between 2001 and 2004 for the Game Boy Advance, and were then ported on the Nintendo DS between 2005 and 2007 and localized for other regions.

In the games, the player assumes the role of Phoenix Wright, a passionate defense attorney who seeks out the truth and defends his clients in a fictional courtroom setting based on the Japanese legal system, using investigation, evidence, and cross-examination, and strives to prove they are "not guilty." Some games in the series also feature different plots and protagonists, compared to the original trilogy.

The original trilogy has also been ported to other platforms, such as PC, WiiWare, iOS, Nintendo 3DS and Android. Subsequent titles were developed for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.

Aside from games, the series has evolved into manga, stage plays, musicals and a film adaption, which was released in 2012. A TV anime series based on the franchise is also planned to air in April 2016.
